Quality Standard System (QSS)

Quality Standard System (QSS)

In order to comply with STCW requirements and a new provision of the US Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Maritime Training Providers teaching STCW courses must have a Quality Standard System (QSS) in place by January 2017 (click here for the relevant excerpt from CFR Part 46). A QSS is based on a continually improving Process Based Management System (PBMS), as such a QSS enables efficient pursuit of your organization’s business objectives and bottom line goals. QSS is synonymous with the terms QMS and Mission Management System (MMS), which is the US Coast Guard’s (USCG) designation for their continual improvement program.

QMII for over 30 years has asked organizations to ‘Appreciate Your Management System’. As such QMII experts can assist you in adding value to your organization while also meeting the new requirements. Our goal is to enable organizations to successfully apply process and system thinking in the real world to fulfill otherwise unattainable objectives. See what how we can add value to your system and learn about the QMII difference.

Since each company’s objectives and existing systems are different a QSS template will not lead to an effective system that add value beyond certification. QMII will work with you to customize the solution to meet the requirements and your needs. QMII has extensive experience in assisting companies and government agencies worldwide in developing their management systems which achieve natural conformity to ISO 9001, an internationally agreed Quality Management System standard for quality and continual improvement. Establishing a system conforming to the ISO 9001 standard will allow compliance with the QSS requirements of the CFR as well as international recognition
