PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE AND PREPARATION FOR MARITIME SECURITY DUTIES.
In this eight hour USCG approved course you will learn valuable skills to apply on board and ashore to improve maritime security.
The workshops include:
- Threat Identification, Recognition and Response (audio/visual)
- Understanding of search methods
- Recognizing security equipment and its operational limits including the need for testing, calibration and maintenance (audio/visual)
- Familiarity with detection of weapons, dangerous goods and devices and appropriate action
- Familiarity with detection of weapons, dangerous goods and devices and appropriate action
- Familiarity with different Assault tactics
- Relationship between international requirements and domestic regulations
- Security vulnerabilities and techniques used to circumvent security measures
- The meaning and the consequential requirements of the different Maritime Security Levels.
- Knowledge of current security threats and patterns
- Recognition and detection of dangerous substances and devices
- Security Policy and duties of personnel with specific security duties.
- Procedures for conducting inspections and monitoring of restricted areas
- The vessel as a potentially vulnerable entity (for example, an LPG tanker)
- Special measures to enhance security and understanding security levels
- Access control systems
- Security documentation and communication
- Methods for recognition, on a non-discriminatory basis, of behavioral characteristics of persons and patterns likely to threaten security
- Crowd management and control techniques (if applicable)
- Security documentation including the DoS
- Knowledge of emergency procedures and contingency plan
- Personnel seeking VPSSD/PFSSD endorsements
